Well, in case you missed it, we WON. AGAIN. We started out calm, prepared and focused. With a lean team of 10, we came out of the gates with some incredibly solid defense and a run of singles which started it all off with the right intensity. Four innings in and we were still in the lead, gave up a couple in the 5th and 6th, and finished solidly in the 7th and 8th for a decisive and commanding win over the top team in the league. (we didn’t even play out the last inning)
It’s tough to say what was better – offense or defense! Everyone hit well, and the entire team played well in the field. Some outstanding catches by Jen, Brendan, Mike, Colin and Dave kept all of Team Active on their toes, not knowing what hit ‘em. A double play between Colin, Jen and Corina showed everyone we were there to win and are no longer a team to disregard! Mike and Brendan held down right and left fields so well I think it was annoying the heavy hitters of Team Active. (awesome).
Our 7th inning had everyone excited, with a solid run of hits, and our sixth runner on 2. By this point, the opposition was angry, and would end the game in an odd funk that can only be felt by the untouchable (full) team who just got squarely beat by the last in the league. No doubtful calls, no scoring mishaps, no bad blood. Just great teamwork and a solid win. James credits the win to his shoelace manoeuvre, Colin thinks we finally learned how to hit. Either way it was an incredible, remarkable win against a top-notch team.
I can’t say how proud I am of the #Abat crew – a back-to-back win was unexpected, but well earned! Look out Triple-X, we’re coming for you next!
