Another solid effort by the Abats today, a very balanced game with our usual highs and lows. Wait, what? We won? Holy shit we won!
What a great day of whole hearted baseball everyone! We all showed up to play and we did just that with all aspects of the team performing. Solid offense including an in-field homer by Brent and a near out of the park homer by James. Patrick took a slide in shorts into 3rd that he’ll be paying for for a while and the dumbest 2 out run shortly there after. A special note of congratulations has to go to Julia who knocked a beauty single into the grass – scratch that off the bucket list coach! Sunday’s #Abat trio of ladies (Jen, Corina, Julia) crushed it with some amazing hits and great plays in the field.
Defensively we held the Screwballs at bay with great team work in the infield lead by Jen and complimented with lightning fast reflexes by Brendan. In the outfield, Brent, Julia and Patrick made some clutch catches that kept us in striking distance through the whole game.
A lot of us had really great games and everyone but Thing 1 kept their heads in it (even after the Screwballs changed the score forcing another half inning). That last half inning had everyone on the edge of their seat, and Colin wrapped it up with an in-field home run to finish the game with authority.
That head space, more polished play and we can count some more wins before this season is over.
